Vloggerheads?

I have known about Stickam for a few years now and was even a active user until quite a while back. I recently came across a site called Vloggerheads. Of course I joined. However this is a forum for those that like to Vlog. Vlogging is like blogging, but with a video instead of the written word. That really isn’t my style, at least to do every time. I like this traditional written blog of mine, where I can hide behind all the bullshit that I write.

Off topic: My laptop has been LAGGING a lot today. I uninstalled Quickbooks, but there isn’t much difference. That has been the only install since it decided to be difficult.

Here is a vid of a chick that I thought was pretty funny. She is signing about Vloggerheads(.com), so you may not really understand. It is still funny.

Was just about to go to bed, when…

… I watched THIS dude.

God Damn it! Now I’m hungry. I don’t even know why. It is gross watching people eat.

(Great tunes, man.)

Green up, people!

Just got through watching Oprah and her annual Earth Day episode. It had a lot of great information, including how to get a free recycled bag from Whole Foods. I then came to find out (by going to their site) that Whole Foods does not have an online store, nor is there a store location anywhere near Modesto. *sigh*

Anyway, during this Oprah show there was a (very) short segment about a family that have labeled themselves as “urban homesteaders”. I was disappointed that Oprah didn’t talk more about this family and their fabulous home. So of course me being me, I found them on the Internet. Their site is great with some intense detail about their homestead. I personally have been considering doing some major renovations to my yard, specifically the back yard, including installing a small chicken coop. This may sound pretty hokie to some people, but I kinda have my mind set on it. Hopefully my landlord will cooperate and be open-minded. (He never comes around.) I am also considering changing the theme of this blog to the efforts I will be making to “green up” my own home.

So in honor of Earth Day 2009, I commend the Dervaes family in Pasadena California on their outstanding efforts to make this earth of ours greener.

Visit their site and online journal/blog:  HERE

I have included in this post, a few pictures of my backyard. These would be considered the “before” pictures.

What’s this all about?

So, I signed up for 12 Seconds today, only because I saw a reference to it on TweetDeck, which I am still deciding on if it is a huge waist of time, or not. When looking at the 12 Seconds site, I started to wonder if it is necesary to have that account AND post on YouTube. So me being me, I googled this question and came across this guy and his video about social networking. It is a tad drawn-out, but he drives the point home: What’s this all about?

Thanks, Stef!

Thanks to my friend, Stefanie, at the restaurant where I work… I have narrowed down the “niche” for this blog. It will still be Trends in Technology, such as blogging (how to) and latest gadget and web site reviews… but I will also focus on ways to make money on the Internet: the good, the bad, and the ugly. There is a lot of crap out there that are basically just scams. When I find out about something, I’ll post it and discuss it.

Like for example, yesterday Stefanie told me about a woman that approached her on the street and asked her if she wanted to make more money. Stef ended up meeting with a second person in Starbucks and he gave her a presentation about a “business” that is about marketing via text messaging. (*yikes*) One huge red flag is that he said that Stefanie needed to pay a $20 dollar start-up fee. Anyway, she told me all about this and I said I would look into it for her. So, more to come on that one.

Another idea Stef said she was thinking about is signing-up with SMC. If you are not familiar with SMC, they are Specialty Merchandise Company. They’ve developed a system for people to sell their merchandise via catalogs, the Internet or in a traditional brick and mortar store. SMC system is not bad, but again… there are start-up fees involved. The big drawback that I see is the merchandise. It is pretty cheap in quality and I really don’t think there is enough demand for it. I think if you are going to be a direct salesperson (in person, on the Internet/eBay or where ever), you should sell something that you are excited about and there is a large demand for. Trends change. That’s why it is important to stay current with what people are buying, then find a supplier, a good price and then sell it until the trend is exhausted or there are too many competitors.

That is my .02 for now.

First post to the new blog.

Ok…. So, I’ve been at my laptop for hours configuring this new blog which is programmed with WordPress (.org). It entailed getting a host ($), new domain name, the WordPress software (free) and hours and hours of reading online tutorials on how to install a specific theme, images….. what-have-you.

OMG I’m tired.

There is a video on the left side of the page and I will make one myself and put it in. I had to test it with something. The video is actually pretty interesting if you are into that.

Anyway, as you can see… I have gotten this far. I need to figure out what niche I want the blog to fall into. I think it will be:  Trends in Technology, such as blogging (how to) and latest gadget and web site reviews.

That’s enough for tonight, I mean this morning.
